Black screen camera on Microsoft Teams desktop app

Today I had a meeting where I needed my camera turned on but it wasn't working. I checked the preview of the camera and it shows only black screen.

I've tried anything I could to resolve the problem ( check for privacy settings, update camera drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the camera device , uninstalled and reinstalled teams, reboot the laptop multiple times ). The camera works on any other app except MT desktop app. It also doesn't let me do the screen share thing.

Any help? I really need it solved so I can be able to take my exams.

What i did was the following to fix it and it may be a bit weird. Mind you this is on a HP laptop

    1.  Go to Device Manager and look under the Category "Imaging devices"

    2.  Right Click the camera and click Uninstall Device and make sure "Delete the driver software for this Device" is checked on.

    1. Go to the suppliers website to download the newest driver and install it. Do a reboot.
    2. When you are back in Windows go back to the Device Manager, you will see it is still under "Imaging devices"
    3. Right click the device again and go to "Properties" and do a Driver Roll Back, as soon as you do the roll back you will see it shoot to the "Camera" category.

I hope this helps for any of you.

    Hello Stefania

I am V. Arya, Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue. As a first level of troubleshooting, please try in Web Teams (Edge/Chrome browsers) and let me know whether it works there or not to advise you on further steps.

My problem occurred on som older HP Probook 6560b and 6570b laptops running later versions of Windows 10 (Post 1909).

The laptops already had the latest drivers for Win10 installed (HP Universal Camera) from 2015!

The way I resolved the problem was to open Device Manager, uninstall the Camera and Driver, then "Search for new devices" this installed a Microsoft driver which resolved the problem.
