This is a known limitation in the New Outlook for Windows desktop client. Currently, users cannot drag and drop emails or attachments directly into SharePoint from the New Outlook, whereas this functionality does work in the Classic Outlook client.
You can try these workarounds to achieve your goal:
- Switch to Classic Outlook when needing drag‑and‑drop functionality.
- Alternative save workflow in New Outlook:
- Open the email, click the "ellipses (⋯)" > Save. This saves an
.emlfile to Downloads. - Drag that saved file into your SharePoint folder via browser.

- Desktop sync workaround:
- Drag the email or attachment to your local desktop or File Explorer
- From there, upload it to SharePoint or Teams.
- Sync your SharePoint library to File Explorer using OneDrive sync. Then you can drag files directly from Outlook into synced SharePoint folders.
