Windows 11 Taskbar unlock

I have just upgraded to Windows !! and now find that I cannot unlock the taskbar or even adjust the taskbar, or even minimise the icons that are in the taskbar. Clearly someone in Microsoft thought disabling these features was a great idea without consulting with the user community, judging by the post in this community.

When is this feature going to be reinstated? I find it extremely useful and now I have to waste more time looking through the hidden icons menu.

Not good enough I am afraid: this is definitely a retrograde step.

I agree that the win11 taskbar lockup is a stupid short sighted mistake. We need MORE flexibility with the taskbar not less!

Give us taskbar flexibility. NOW !!!!

This is shockingly bad by MS, get rid of the useless slow pictures on the desktop.

Re-instate useful basic function like customizing the taskbar.

For everyone's information here, I did install ExplorerPatcher and I was able to unlock the taskbar and move it to the top of my screen where I like it, but I discovered I lost some other functionality. I rely heavily on Alt-Tab to cycle through open programs and docs, but it was lost under ExplorerPatcher. Also, the taskbar looked different, with the display of the names of open apps showing. It took up more space on the screen. So, I ended up uninstalling ExplorerPatcher. I get my Alt-Tab back, but the taskbar is back at the bottom of the screen... Just thought y'all might like to know. Let's keep the pressure on MS to fix this horrendous oversight!
