I'll second that!
Windows 11 Folder custom Icon Issue
After updating to windows 11, the option to customize "Choose a file to show on this folder icon" does not change the folder's display image even after applying, I have tried the solutions displayed here " https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/folder-icon-thumbnails-broken-windows-11-pro/0e60c9ee-e5f0-4e6d-80c9-42cf2f89752e " but it did not solve the issue, I also do not have the option to revert to windows 10 where this problem never occurred

2022-05-19T00:38:53+00:00 Really, it can't be done??????????? Let's get someone who can fly to the moon to do this, huh. I mean if it was done all this time--years with all my previous versions, why not with 11?
We want to do things easier, faster....not go backwards.
Somebody wake them up at Microsoft. Maybe they're not paid enough?

FYI, as of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22557, File Explorer will now show previews of items within folders.

2022-07-06T14:07:02+00:00 Well this is a disturbing turn of events. I hated Windows 10 and got a new Laptop with Windows 11 and thought navigation seemed easier, until ALL OF THE THUMBNAIL/PREVIEWS ON MY FOLDERS ARE GONE!!!!
I have tried every troubleshooting thing I can find and nothing works, reset folder settings, unchecked the box to show folder not icon, you name it. It will not allow me to choose an image to display on folder, even though the option is there. I have literally hundreds of folder of not just photos, but digital scrapbooking kits, which are now next to IMPOSSIBLE to navigate unless I want to click on each folder so I can see what kit or group of photos is in what folder. Information of this magnitude is next to impossible to commit to memory, so I'm pretty much screwed! I am smart enough to create and assign custom icons for the generic folders on my desktop, so why is this so difficult? PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2022-07-31T06:01:42+00:00 Not lookin' for previews here, Ramesh.
We are looking to plaster a picture on a folder icon, as we could in '10 AND as it says in "Properties/Customize." eg. "Choose a file to show on this folder Icon."
The "door is there to do it, but there is a 'wall' behind the door."
I would suggest deleting all the "preview references" from this string, since they are irrelevant to to problem subject. Read the first post. THEN answer the question or move along.
