After updating to windows 11, the option to customize "Choose a file to show on this folder icon" does not change the folder's display image even after applying, I have tried the solutions displayed here " https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/folder-icon-thumbnails-broken-windows-11-pro/0e60c9ee-e5f0-4e6d-80c9-42cf2f89752e " but it did not solve the issue, I also do not have the option to revert to windows 10 where this problem never occurred

    There hasn't been a user customization-friendly Windows since Win7

All the latter Win systems have been set up for commercial use.

Do we really need a computer to tell us what we need or want?

I thought the purpose of an OS was to make it easier for us to make

the computer do what we want or need it to do.

Lately, I have been thinking about building a new computer with Haiku as

    the OS.

For some reason I dragged a folder to the desktop after I had changed the icon. It worked, so I put it back. Now it stays closed. Not sure what is going on but they all stay closed if I do this. Weird.

Sorry, it didn't work for me. Microsoft will have to bring the Customize button back to "Place a file on a folder." Too simple, eh? And these clowns are buying or have bought 3-Mile Island?

Hello Carolyn. I am trying to apply your advise, but I am not sure to understand your flow. I did create a new folder on my desktop, right clicked, and went to customize. But when I click on the "Change icon" box, I am not given any other choice than dll files, when I want to use any jpg that I find handy. Then, of course, from this moment on, all is totally opaque "Scroll to MIDDLE closed folder icon next to cog icon, click it, Ok, Apply.". The picture illustrating my folders are all called "folder.jpg" and this is what I have been using forever since I own a computer. Are jpg convertible in dll files? and if so, will I have to rename all those jpg?! Thanks
