Windows 11 Folder custom Icon Issue

After updating to windows 11, the option to customize "Choose a file to show on this folder icon" does not change the folder's display image even after applying, I have tried the solutions displayed here " https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/folder-icon-thumbnails-broken-windows-11-pro/0e60c9ee-e5f0-4e6d-80c9-42cf2f89752e " but it did not solve the issue, I also do not have the option to revert to windows 10 where this problem never occurred

    During my own attempt to solve a problem similar to yours, I found two methods that might assist you.

    Firstly, ensure that the folder where your desired icon is located does not contain any emojis. Windows may struggle to recognize the file path if the folder or file has an emoji. For example, "C:\Users\ajaero\Downloads". If this method works, then that is the issue.

    Secondly, if the folder where you intend to change the icon contains the desired icon, move it to a different folder. This might be the cause of my folder having an emoji in the name so this is most like not the answer

    Hello Sir,

    Thank you for your reply, however I do not use emoji's in the naming or in my folders in Windows Explorer. As I wrote on Page 1, post 3 or 4 of this thread, and was noted above, by Scott Malkin, there was a certain method to achieve the, "Choose a file to show on the folder icon."

    Unfortunately, I am not on my Windows 10 system, so I cannot clearly show a Windows 11 v. Windows 10 contrast.

    I don't understand Microsoft and why they make all these changes then give options to revert back to "the way it was" in an older version I am so sick of the changes they've made in W11. Can't customize folder or app icons. And when you can, the icon picture disappears and you have a white box for the app. I'm a visual person, I need every folder and app to have an icon that can see and know what it is, without looking at the text. And W11 has totally screwed up my productivity. I would honestly like to go back to W7 view. At least my icon stayed when I clanged them on a folder or app.
