After updating to windows 11, the option to customize "Choose a file to show on this folder icon" does not change the folder's display image even after applying, I have tried the solutions displayed here " https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/folder-icon-thumbnails-broken-windows-11-pro/0e60c9ee-e5f0-4e6d-80c9-42cf2f89752e " but it did not solve the issue, I also do not have the option to revert to windows 10 where this problem never occurred

William Turnley Replied on May 4, 2023

In reply to LesFerch's post on March 4, 2023

What you write (in part), "With Windows 11, you can no longer see previews of the contents inside the folders," is contrary to the question.

    Hi William,

It looks like you meant to reply to Sumit D -IA. The quote you posted was from his reply (the first reply in the thread).

My reply on March 4 was to Howard Miller1 for a specific issue he was having.

One more time . . . It's NOT complicated! No money, icon cache cleaning is necessary. It's worked since Windows XP!

IN Windows 11, when you go to folder properties, then customize, it states CLEARLY, "Choose a file to show on the folder icon."

What you write (in part), "With Windows 11, you can no longer see previews of the contents inside the folders," is contrary to the question. What I want to do is show a picture file on the folder, as I could in Windows 10.

If it is not possible to do that, then why does the option still exist in Properties/Customization?

I downgraded back to 10, so can't check on your option in 11 (yet). But for the sake of argumenting, I will add my 10 cents: when you have accumulated 10,000s of folder images over the years - by just editing the title to "folder.jpg", and they disappear the instant you upgrade to 11, how do you batch them back to your display option in just a few clicks??

Here is what we are looking for . . . Thanks to azhotaz and Windows XP! Pictures can be posted on the icon singularly or many (up to 4).

The item is there under Customization. Why can't they do it?
