I cannot even install this update and it fails to install every time I attempt downloading this update. I get this error message every time I try to update, "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712).

I have tried everything to resolve it and nothing has worked. I have run SFC, DISM, DSCK, tried to repair my system files, run the windows update trouble shooter and the problem continues to persist.

If you are dual booting it looks like it starts updating before the operating system is picked so you could try changing the time to display operating systems from 30 to 0

To get there right click the start button and select system. Then find "advanced system settings " . Under the advanced tab click on settings in the startup and recovery category and uncheck the "time to display operating systems" box. Then reboot. And then delete the files if still there then install. Not sure if it will work but it's worth a try

Folder is acbe072dde8a6f3cc19054c9176d3f1b, inside is the file c44343a4-a077-4dd3-86ca-c1c6716794ca.AggregatedMetadata.cab, and when I just looked to get the name, I see one more called DesktopDeployment.cab

Both say they are in use by Delivery Optimization.

I don't know if I'm "dual booting" but I did what you said and I WAS able to delete the files. I reset the time back to 30 and rebooted again. The files are still gone. I'll just wait to see if Windows Update works now.

Thank you so much for your help!

Well, after deleting the files successfully, rebooting, and trying the update again, it still will not install. This is a new computer that came with Windows 11 installed. When I first got it, it updated a few times with no problem until this latest update. I've run the Windows Update Troubleshooter, DSIM and SFC and no problems were found. There's something about this update that just doesn't work.

Its probably only not working with certain systems. On my Windows 11, all updates so far have installed (edit - including kb5008215). Microsoft has various updates that are only found or pushed to certain systems (edit - etc) even with Windows 10 because of various compatibility reasons for hardware or accessories. They don't always find these before the fact.

It would be better to try to skip it, install it another way if possible, or pause updates.

DSIM and SFC should really next to never be needed. That's something that gets abused on Microsoft Community. I intentionally tested breakages and these did nothing as well to fix anything such as service changes breaking things. These check the /Windows files and maybe something else. They are not a one stop solution and most people shouldn't have a breakage that they fix. They should do nothing 99.9% of the time. You cannot rely on those like that. Its a waste of time to incorporate that into your fixing diet.
