I cannot even install this update and it fails to install every time I attempt downloading this update. I get this error message every time I try to update, "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712).

I have tried everything to resolve it and nothing has worked. I have run SFC, DISM, DSCK, tried to repair my system files, run the windows update trouble shooter and the problem continues to persist.

Did as mentioned above somewhere. Reset pc, keeping my files and went all over again installing apps.... Works fine for now and all up to date now :-)

It is actually reassuring to find that I am not alone in having the problem which is being discussed here. It would be even more reassuring to see a helpful response from Microsoft - or perhaps they are still working out how to fix the problem? The good news is that the Windows 11 installation which I am using seems to be working fine!!

Today's attempt ended with this error message - Download error - 0xca00a009

Microsoft is always half baked. Don't understand how such an old organization is so ignorant. Should learn from Google/Android.

    Hi,

I'm also having the issue of not being able to install '2021-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5008215)' which I believe is also linked to (OS Build 22000.376), I'm currently running Windows 11 Pro build (22000.318), so I am not on the most current version, despite Windows update saying there are no updates. If I remember correctly the update for the new build came through, downloaded, installed and prompted me to restart just fine. I then continued to use my PC and thought I'd just check Windows update again to see if there were anything new, and it told me I was not on the newest version of the insider build.

Like many others on here, I have tried various troubleshooting methods such as DISM, SFC etc. With the (KB5008215) update installation I have received the error code '0xc1900401', upon looking on Google for help, I found this: How to fix Error 0xc1900401 - Microsoft Community. Unfortunately, following this didn't help me at all.

I hope this issue can be resolved soon.

    Thank you.

    Connor.

    Hi,

In response to my comment above, I have found a solution (that worked for me). Download the latest Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft website. Save it to your PC, do not save it to a USB. If you are not sure how to do this: refer to this link - How to Download a Windows 11 ISO File and Do a Clean Install | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com), you don't need to do the fresh install part.

If you're familiar with this method, all you need to do is right-click on the downloaded ISO/WinRAR file and open it with File Explorer, it will then create a new drive in File Explorer. Click on the newly created drive and run the setup.exe, follow through the options and when it comes to the stage of downloading updates, although I've seen many guides say to not do the within Windows upgrade and select that you want updates, I selected download updates at this point and it has worked for me. It has now downloaded the required updates and fixed the issues I was having. If anyone needs any further help with this, reply to my comment/quote me and I'll do my best to help you.

    Thank you,

    Connor.
