I am unable to set-up a new PIN as it asks for a security code to be sent on a number I no longer have. I just updated my number on microsoft accounts and it says will take 30 days before it takes effect. Now I can't even log into my laptop. No option for password login or to change to a local account. Someone HELP!!!

I was trying to fix this issue but the lockout was actually permanent because on my MS account it said I had to verify my account & doing that caused Microsoft to send me a security code that I couldn’t find on my Google account I did go through with restoring my google account but the Microsoft account was beyond restoring with that method.

I had to reset my desktop and start fresh like I bought a new computer

I had to erase all my old files then, I was able to establish a new password and pin. Nothing else seemed to work..

Same problem here. But mine is even worse because I use a VPN with an internet kill-switch which prevents your computer from connecting to the internet without a VPN connection to keep your connection to the internet secured. My computer did an automatic update and restart while I was asleep and I get the same “you need to create a new pin because blah blah blah” message. But I can’t even connect to the internet because I had the VPN kill-switch turned on. I KNOW what my PIN is. I know my login information. I know my security questions and answers.

Windows apparently doesn’t want to even create an option when you click to login and it says you need to make a new PIN and it pulls up the account window and tells you that you don’t have an internet connection that it gives you the choice to select “I can’t connect to the internet” and give you other ways to login. Why can’t I login using my Windows 11 product key as a last resort? Or why isn’t there a list of account restoration keys that get generated when you first create an account that only show up once that you can write down in a password Manager app or on a piece of paper or email them to yourself or something so when this situation happens you don’t get screwed.

I’ve researched for days now trying to find a solution and the only answers I’ve found from anyone are that I have to completely reinstall windows. This is ridiculous. Tell me why I should subscribe to “Office 365” for hundreds of dollars? I hate Windows precisely because of BS like this. If I had a choice, I wouldn’t use it but this is a work computer. I don’t get a choice. My personal computer is Mac, and my Laptop is Linux. I am so tired of Windows. I’m so over it.

This thread was created a year ago… why is this still a problem? You guys put out windows updates all the time.
