YOUR PIN IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE DUE TO A CHANGE TO THE SECURITY SETTINGS ON YOUR DEVICE.

This just happened to me out of the blue today. I thought I was completely locked out of my computer with nowhere to go. This solution worked perfectly. Everything back up and running exactly as it should be.

My solution:

I ran into the same issue ytd, trying to reset my computer without knowing my PIN won't work afterwards.

Initially, I wanted all of my files to be removed, so I chose "Remove everything". After it's done, this issue popped up.

Fortunately, in the end I managed to solve this issue by resetting my computer again, selecting "Keep my files" option, and "Local Reinstall". It also involves changing your microsoft password in my case. Hope it helps.

Yes, after trying other proffered solutions, your last paragraph was all that worked for me in my case. Note though that since I use Firefox portable installs on a partition and and many apps run from another drive, and I had backed use my Appdata User files, then this was not as time-consuming as it otherwise could be in order to attain the degree of customization Windows benefits from for efficiency and visibility, Thank God!

However, it remains that MS should correct this, as well as the lack of recourse when they block users on this forum.

Thanks, yet faced with “Your PIN is no longer available due to a change to the security settings on this device" then for me, there is no working option to sign in, which is only via a pin that there is no option to obtain.

I did that deletion that NGC folder, and while the Win 11 login no longer asks for a password, and just says Sign in, clicking it only results in that screen reloading, and thus there is still a lock out.

This is on a recent new installation, a clean install, of Win. 11 64 bit, but after I doubled the amount of memory Windows (due to the newly required TPM) invalidated my sign in Pin, and offers no working option to rectify it.

I also did a System Restore that did not help.

BTW, to help others for whom the NGC folder deletion above may work, rather than the process described in the post I am replying to, then I rebooted and when the black (POST) screen appeared I kept tapping the key (F11 on my desktop PC) that brings up the menu of what drive to boot from, and by which I booted from a Linux Mint with off a USB drive (made via Rufus), to navigate to MY computer and to the Windows system (and under View, choose show hidden files) and then deleted the NGC folder.

For now, I do have a AOMEI copy of the whole drive and a bootable USB of it to restore it all, but that may result in the same issue. Thus I may do a reset.

But MS should fix this lock out issue.

I am unable to set-up a new PIN as it asks for a security code to be sent on a number I no longer have. I just updated my number on microsoft accounts and it says will take 30 days before it takes effect. Now I can't even log into my laptop. No option for password login or to change to a local account. Someone HELP!!!
