app buttons missing in windows 11 - epson scan

recently upgrade to Win 11 and it generally seems ok.
1 issue though is that the action buttons on epson scan no longer show (preview, scan etc)
if you click on the area they should be they still work and then appear- which is great if you know where all the buttons are!
it worked perfectly fine the 10 min before i did the upgrade then had this issue immediately after.
so far only found the issue on this one app
any thoughts on resolution.

2022-06-17T17:02:13+00:00 I have a Epson Stylus NX625 with the same problem. I updated the drivers and utilities and can't even get the ALT button solution to work. Still no Preview and Scan Buttons. I'd try the patch (Epson Scan Patch Installer EPSONScan_W11P_20211102_S.exe) if I could locate where to download it. I was completely lost on the Japanese site and the Australian site does not list my printer/scanner model. Any help is greatly appreciated.

2022-06-16T13:07:07+00:00 This happened to me when I was comparing Epson Scan with Vuescan for the v750 scanner.
Close down Epson Scan then type in services.msc in the windows search and scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition. Press "restart" and it will reset the link for Epson Scan. This will allow you to open Epson Scan and recognise the scanner.
