I updated to Windows 11. BIG MISTAKE! Now, My laptop battery is dead and won't charge. I see lots of people had problems with the battery not charging, but my battery is dead and so none of those work for me. Will MS pay for a new battery for me since they broke my laptop? Let ne jbiw uf tgere;s aything else I can do short of spending money I don't have on a new battery.

Reading all the comments from people who had this problem, Microsoft knew this was a problem and should have fixed it before releasing it to the public.

As I have said to you all along. I recommend downloading a fresh copy of the operating system making a usb boot disk. And to a full reinstall. Don't forget to backup all your presious data beforehand. Then you might need to download and install any OEM drivers.

For those of you that could try the option resolution of removing all updates and reapplying them much may work. Then please ask you systems administrator to do this for you or reimage the device.

I am a student, and the command prompt is blocked by my principal. Do you have another way to fix the battery?

Most of these problems seem to be manufacture specific. Mine starting working after the last update I did. With mine, I had to remove updates and revert to previous. I was able to update fully after that.

I have the same basic charging problem with a Surface Book 2. It occurred after updating which apparently failed. It will start but not charge. It is showing a software update issue but will not reinstall any because it says it is not plugged in though that is the only way it will run.

I have done a battery report but it does not show a problem. I have swapped charger to no avail. Safe mode trouble shooting has not helped, Any thoughts? I do want to start over with this laptop and loose my software.
