Windows 11 zipped folders / files immediately crashes File Explorer

My Dell laptop was previously Windows 10, now 11. When I right click any zipped folder, it immediately crashes Windows Explorer, but then everything comes back. I can't unzip any zipped file at all - doesn't seem to matter what size it is.

I was trying to use the built-in unzipper utility in Windows, and when that didn't work I tried a couple 3rd party apps, including WinZip. Nothing works; they all crash, and they crash on ANY zipped file I have.

And by the way if I try to ZIP any set of files - even just 3 little word files, it does the same thing. The screen flashes, all my icons go away for a second. Then things come back, but nothing will zip or unzip.

    I figured out how to GET AROUND THIS.

    Yes, you cannot open any zip file. That's ok, because all you have to do (if you downloaded it) is OPEN THE BROWSER where you downloaded the file, go to downloads from the browser, click the file to open it and it will open the file where you can extract it. Extract (drag and drop) to your desktop. Problem solved. =)

    Yes, I agree, after years of struggling with this problem and having to use 7zip the issue has finally been resolved!

    flushing the DNS alsow worked for me

    I had the same issue, no carbonite etc. I used the ShellExView program others referenced and disabled each Non-microsoft Context Menu one by one, testing which was the culprit. Turned out to be Adobe Drive CS4. Keeping that disabled. I presume uninstalling Adobe CS4 Suite would accomplish the same but I'm not getting rid of the suite for a context menu issue.

    Adobe Drive CS4 disabled, ZIP works now.
