Stop upgrade to Windows 11

I upgraded to Windows 11 and reverted back to Windows 10. Now Windows 10 automatically attempts to download and install Windows 11 again. See below:

I can Pause Updates but doing so doesn't allow me to update Windows 10 "patches." I'm being forced to Upgrade to Windows 11 without the ability to stop it.

I want to cancel the Upgrade to Windows 11 (download/installation) process which initiated on its own without my consent. The current status is how it shows in the image above - ready to download and then install Windows 11 but there is no way to stop it.

What I want:

  • Windows 10 to stop Upgrade to Windows 11 process
  • Ability to update Windows 10 without it upgrading/installing to Windows 11
  • Windows 10 with the ability to update patches

    There is only one way! Change to other systems. For example to linux!

    Microsoft will to force users to take microsoft way, thier own way! I see it made for idiots, have no other way.

    For example, they renew Office programs and force you to buy the new additions each time by deactivating the old versions ! Companies have no choice and have to buy the new addition! For example the Exel-Tables or Acces would not working anymore.

    I have solved the problem with Office Word! There is a new program which does what ever Word do with no limitation named „Liberoffice“. You can search in internet and download and install it!

    Actually, I am writing with it now.

    I've been loosely monitoring this thread for quite awhile and posted a few replies when I was working to avoid Win 11 on my main computer. I hear the frustration at all the issues that pathetic Win 11 has generated and how invasive it is. When I transitions to Win 10 I encountered many of the issues and invasive issues talked about on these forums. But Win 11 is that on steroids.

    As SimonTurner1 said, it is possible to go back to Win 10, but it takes some effort and expertise. I hope you are able to engage someone with the knowledge and patience to help you.

    Oh as I said earlier, I get windows 10 informing me that "we need to get you set up", but windows 11 is much worse.

    works 3D cad canks out when running teams, so it's impossible to have a meeting with a customer and show them the models live on screen.

    microsoft = ****! this garbage is totally not business ready. I hate to think what the new Ts and Cs are, windows 10 was toe be the last one as now it's a perpetual service, or did the sawyers miss something?

    Oh my good friend Simon, thank you so very much for your precise steps to get rid of W11, but alas I'm a little old lady and do not understand the "entrails" of a computer. I'm afraid I'd make a terrible mess if I tried. If you happen to live in NYC I'd be happy to pay for you to do that for me. It's great you've been able to find the way to use W10 without the undesirable W11 interference.

    Wouln't it be grand if a mighty powerful competition to Microsoft appeared and snatched ALL OF US from the exploitative Microsoft and into the powerful newcomer?

    Of course, it would be expected that the new comer wouldn't do the same to us that did W11... ;)

    Thank you so much, but as I said to SimonTuner1...my computer ability is SOOO limited that something as involved as what he described will probably make me mess up the computer.

    As to having a techie to do it for me, I searched near me but wasn't able to find one. Two of them told me it's not possible, or the culprit W11 may come back over the W10, and both wanted an exceedingly high fee for such uncertain results.
