Stop upgrade to Windows 11

1. Open Start.

2 .Search for regedit and click the top result to launch the Registry Editor.

3. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

4. Right-click the Windows (folder) key, select the New submenu, and then choose the Key option.
5. Name the new key WindowsUpdate and press Enter.
6. Right-click the newly created key, select the New submenu, and choose the Key option.
7. Name the new key AU and press Enter.
8. Right-click the AU key, select the New submenu, and choose the DWORD (32-bit) Value option.
9. Name the new key NoAutoUpdate and press Enter.
10. Double-click the newly created key and change its value from 0 to 1.
11. Click the OK button.
12. Restart your computer.
13.  Press the Windows logo key + R****at the same time to invoke the Run box.
14. Type services.msc and press Enter.
15. Scroll down to Windows Update, and double-click it.
16. In Startup type, select "Disabled". Then click "Apply" and "OK" to save the settings.
17. Restart your computer one last time
18. Enjoy no more automatic updates

Why not just follow what the Paloma said and be able to keep normal updates instead of turning them off completely?

I don't understand why MS makes us have to look up on a site like this, and temporarily become an MS systems engineer just to stop something so stupid, like forcing us to all use Windows 11. (Probably so we can be their bug-master and find all the bugs in their junk?) uuuhhhh ...

What's the 3rd...Friday? I would shut off my PC after midnight (12:01 AM March 3), unless I was at home in the room with it. It won't be able to complete a Win 11 install without you noticing it. I should hope it would ask you to confirm the install before even starting it, then go ahead if you miss the notice. (since you told it to).
A BIG However:

It's Microsoft and who knows what they'll do. LOL, Don't blame me if you wake up with 11 on your PC...
I wouldn't stop looking for someone who's managed to stop it Before it starts though.

Take a look in "Task Scheduler", under Microsoft, that seems like the obvious place to hide it.

I already have windows 10 which I do like but I scheduled an install of windows 11 for March 3 and I would like to cancel that install but cannot figure out how to cancel it.

I have searched high and low on YouTube and elsewhere, but nothing I can’t find anything that helps.

In the previous weekend I in all honestly tried Windows 11 and gave it a fair chance of trying to convince me. After a few hours I removed the SSD that W11 was on and went back to Windows 10.

I have computers ever since the MS-DOS age. Most of my computers have two SSD's, one with Windows 10 and one with Linux (Linux Mint/LMDE, Fedora, Manjaro, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE).

Every computer that will get Windows 11 without my permission will have the Windows SSD removed and will from then on ONLY run Linux.

Are you reading this, Microsoft? (Yes, I know they don't read this.)

Installing Linux really is not THAT difficult. Go with Linux Mint or Ubuntu, which are the easiest ones.

No hassles with updating like Windows does, no viruses, no other Microsoft ****. It is a whole new (better) universe.
