High ram usage while idle on a windows 11 pc

Good morning, I've just started a new job as Internal IT Support Technician. I have more than 20 years experience and have worked on Windows 3.1, Windows 95 & Windows 98, windows 2000 / NT4, Windows Millenium, Windows XP, Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, Windows 10, windows 11, so i have travelled the journey with Microsoft and the resources required on a high End PC (Core i5 11th Gen) to run basic programs on windows 11 is beyond me, to say the least, i am in the process of troubleshooting a possible memory leak/resources problem on a brand new machine, and will post an update as soon as i am confident that 'at idle' this Windows 11 machine remains reliable, stable & ready to use

30g out of 32g is defintely NOT normal usage even for win11 with third-party software. This is some kind of a malfunction. But you need to narrow down possible problems.

1. Stop using task manager to analyze such problems.
2. Take procexp and rammap from sysinternals and you will get the whole picture
3. Analyze every process you think is using too much and when you finish you can ask a more appropriate question "Why process <NAME> uses so much ram"

3.1 If you havent found culprit it probably means that some process leaks and that is more difficult problem to solve. You'll have to use safe mode and enabling everything one by one to find the process which uses too much ram.

Hello, same issue. Fresh OS with drivers and simple software installed. 32GB of RAM and 95% used in browser. DON'T tell me that OS allocates more for applications to be used in future - i know that BUT if its allocated it's counted into application that you can check and verify in future if you want to use that app still or manage it somehow. Unused RAM = wasted RAM - yes so thats why i'm here - my RAM is not utilized according to what windows says and its wasted for my personal use - yes i can see drops in frames and application performance. I've counted all programs RAM usage (non microsoft) and it led me to around 2,5 GB and for microsoft combined + those non microsoft 6,4GB. WHERE OTHER 26GB GOES? If its not assigned to process ITS NOT USED BY IT in any OS administration meanings - if yes and thats new approach please make some offical KB as I will revise using Windows Server in our Unit at work as if that will be implemented same way we will go to linux infra as it will be much easier to monitor and manage - obviously it already is but due to some application limitation and easy to run on windows we are on them for now. So please make official statement if thats a case and view in Task manager or Powershell outputs are now invalid and just approximate overview.
