I2C HID Driver Touchpad Failure (I think I solved it)

If the touchpad on your laptop has failed. You're playing now you see it, now you don't wit TOUCHPAD in your settings. And no customer support can assist you from HP or MSFT, try this it just worked for me...

Go to DEVICE MANAGER

Expand HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICES

And you see 12C HID Device has an error.

If you click DRIVER and then UNINSTAL DEVICE the 12C HID Device is delisted, and on startup it magically refreshes.

I was hoping that would do it, but the TOUCHPAD was still inoperative, and the error persisted.

Then, on a wild thought. I repeated UNINSTAL on all of the HID-compliant Device tabs. My thought was the whole HID Device needed a reboot. As soon as they all delisted, I said a prayer and rebooted.

And my touchpad was finally restored!

I hope this helps others, as this was really frustrating.

Ps. In Touchpad settings (once you can access them again) it's also a good idea to tic LEAVE TOUCHPAD ON WHEN MOUSE IS CONNECTED.

    After trying close to 10 different things to fix a non responsive touchpad, this one finally worked.

    This is what solved it for me. Updating BIOS, changing all the power management settings, disabling and enabling, none of it worked, but this REGEDIT post is what solved it for me! Saved me a visit to the service depot.

    I have a Lenovo Yoga 7i

    CPU - 12th gen i7 EVO

    GPU - Intel iris Xe graphics.

    I encountered the same problem. Although uninstalling the I2C driver sometimes provided a temporary fix, the issue persisted within a day. Eventually, I successfully resolved it.

    Here's the solution that worked for me:

    The problem stemmed from the trackpad connector to the motherboard. To address it, I opened the laptop, disconnected and removed the battery, and then detached the connector strip from both the motherboard and trackpad. After blowing air with a blower to eliminate any dust, I securely reconnected the trackpad's connector at both ends, the motherboard, and the trackpad itself.

    Thanks to Google Gemini. it suggested me that sometime the issue could be hardware related

    The same thing happened with me. All I had to do was disable the I2C HID Devices and enable it. It started to work as usual.
