I2C HID Driver Touchpad Failure (I think I solved it)

Nothing is more frustrating than having a PC work well, and then doesn't after a software update. The steps to take are really tedious trying to identify a problem that was not there a second ago.

I checked first to find out if my hardware, the trackpad, is working. To do that, the easiest way is to enter safe mode in windows 11. If the trackpad happens to work, it would mean that it's driver isnt working normally, or there might be another driver that is conflicting with it.

Once I figured out nothing is wrong with my hardware, I started to check the device manager under the normal boot (had to use the touchscreen and keyboard, or an external mouse) for any device that has error. In my case, none had problems, just that my trackpad was missing. I uninstalled all vendor HID devices under human interface, and rebooted. Viola, the trackpad starts working.

Then went back into device hardware, and noticed that there are two mouse settings. I disabled wake up computer under power management for both mouse. From then on my laptop had no more trackpad problems. Hopefully Microsoft fixes the problem instead of passing it onto the vendors.

I've had this issue for a long while, and nothing i tried worked. But I do believe I found a solution that could work on many laptops.

I opened the BIOS and changed some useless settings and let my laptop boot up. AFTER that, I shut down my PC to open the BIOS again, where I restored "To default OS settings" and let my pc boot up again. I haven't had an issue afterwards that persisted, it was only short time, but that seemed as if it was loading rather than failing.

You might not even need to do the extra steps before hand. So you might be able to just restore to default and maybe that could fix your issue.

I use a Lenovo Yoga variant laptop, but I do believe that this should work on more than one kind of laptops.

I have had this problem for years at this point. and when I tell you I genuinely love you you better believe it. Microsoft couldn't help. Reddit couldn't help. Three different Geek Squads couldn't help. but you, you beautiful lovely person I hope your pillow is cold on both sides, I hope you never get food poisoning, I hope your blankets never tangle around your feet, I hope your car always starts, I hope your pants are warm straight out of the dresser, I hope you get bonuses and raises, I hope your family is happy forever, I cannot even begin to tell you how long I've awaited the answer to this problem, it's been killing me. I have broken things out of rage because my trackpad would get fixed and then immediately break. I've taken apart my computer more times than I should be allowed. I love you, please have a happy and fulfilling life.
