"The username violates our guidelines"

All I see is this with absolutely now help in how to fix it. And this doesn't even make sense?

"This is the name from your Microsoft account. It will appear next to any of your posts." Right? I assume my "Name" is supposed to be where that blank under my picture is? So it seems like it's blank? It seems like everything is filled out on my page. All I wanted to do was to like someone's comments. It shouldn't be this hard.

Thanks for posting a screenshot of what I see as well. At least it lets me know it's not me, it's MSFT. Now if only we could get the right person (or for that matter any person) at MSFT to notice.

There is clearly something wrong with this organization, it's values, it's conduct, and general business methods. I have not commented on anything in, oh I don't know, forever. I don't disrespect anyone's rights, views, or opinions. However, I also expect that others treat me in a likewise fashion. I, too, have been banned. Clearly my point of view offended someone's delicate sensibilities, no matter how subjective, unexamined, or absurd and Microsoft complied. Or there is something wrong with their programming. The most likely scenario, to my way of thinking, is that as a person of strong moral conviction, Microsoft invaded my privacy and unlawfully monitored my content, summarily concluding that I did not toe their party line, and exerted their undeserved, unmonitored, and absolute power. In all likelihood, all three scenarios may be in play. And, of course, there is little recourse. Microsoft can take their perceived absolute power and shove it. I don't wish to comment on their stupid, inane, and inconsequential content anyway. For them there is a special place in hell. Unfortunately, there will be no consequence to them, at least in this life, as there are billions of people for whom this garbage is the entirety of their life's devotion. How sad.

Do you actually see a username when you're on this page? Is it the same error?

I think what I see is actually just a bug. I think that my account is really old and the call the service is making to get my "username" is not actually returning my username. So it sees a blank, which of course would not be a valid username. It says, "This is the name from your Microsoft account." And yet no name is ever shown.

Unless I misinterpreted it, the message implies the supposed violation is with my user name, not anything I wrote but I admit that does not make sense either. I suspect the problem is caused by some buggy algo. In regard to big corporations, I must give kudos to Amazon. I had a similar experience where without explanation I was blocked from posting reviews on Amazon for certain products I had purchased from them. The block made no sense to me because most of my reviews were very positive and only a few negative and in my opinion even the negative ones weren't that negative. Unlike Microsoft however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could call Amazon's customer service and when I did the phone was answered by an actual human being who listened and was able to lift the block while I was on the phone. Does anyone know if there is such a number for MSFT?

In addition you get that message before you can even comment, so how would they know if you are a conservative or liberal? Trying to say it is an attack on conservatives just sounds plain stupid to me. In addition, I see plenty of comments by both conservatives and liberals. Do you really think they stalk everyone to learn their views? Some very sophisticated programming going on there if they do. I read articles from both perspectives and have commented both ways before also. But Microsoft needs to get this fixed, I have found no way around it either.
