"The username violates our guidelines"

I tried commenting on an article for the first time today. When i went to sign up and agree to the terms a window said in red letters "The username violates our guidelines"...

my username is my first and last name so I don't understand why I'm seeing this. There is no option to dispute on screen https://account.microsoft.com/profile?ocid=msedgntp

    I too have the same issue. When the dialog comes up to respond to a post, I get the screen saying my user name violates. On this screen Username is blank.

    On the profile screen I have used real name and a ficticious one, and each was saved and verified, but the result is the same. When you try to post, it doesn't fill in the username from the profile.

    Unfortunately I think you are right. Social media has become the place where truth and lies are told, where hypocrisy and dishonesty in the MSM is found out and exposed. They will not let you choose Fox News as a news source. Clearly they are trying to stifle debate. As a private company they are not subject to the rules regarding Constitutionally guraranteed Free Speech but they clearly are censoring and suppressing Free Speech.

    This form of blocking has been going on for years, not months. I never did find out any information about it. Microsoft loves to obscure stuff. They can't store passwords correctly, either.

    This **** is why I never use the browser given by MicroSux to see anything but the weather. I was forced to have Windows installed as my disability doesn't allow me to work on my own PC anymore, and I am a Linux fan. The PC store refuses to touch a Linux PC unless it's to wipe the drive and install Windows.

    This is also happening to me. I also was using my real name. I tried to change it to something else but it still won't let me post. Considering the original complaint about this issue was 25 days ago I guess Microsoft has no intention of fixing this issue or just doesn't care. What a shocker....and they wonder why people don't switch from Google....

    I sincerely hope this isn't some kind of retaliatory action by pleebs that work at Microsoft against people who post conservative comments. The fact that it isn't fixed going on a month later really, really screams "woke tech" employees trying to stop free speech once again.

    Issue happening to me too. Can't reply to any news comments. I can put my real name and still won't work. All it shows is blank name.
