I tried commenting on an article for the first time today. When i went to sign up and agree to the terms a window said in red letters "The username violates our guidelines"...

my username is my first and last name so I don't understand why I'm seeing this. There is no option to dispute on screen https://account.microsoft.com/profile?ocid=msedgntp

I literally just stumbled on solving this for myself. I signed in on my phone in order to reply here. Told me my name was already in use and suggested adding the 835. So I did and it excepted my name in my mobile. So I signed out in my desk top. Signed back in and then edited my name to include the 835. Microsoft accepted.

I'm a Canadian, using my real name. It's not working either. I think it's just a bug and Microsoft could care less.

    No kidding!
