make Windows 11 photo thumbnails larger than extra large in file explorer

Now using Windows 11. When I open File Explorer to view photo thumbnails and set the view to Extra Large, it is not any larger than when I set the view to Large. The only difference between Large and Extra Large is that the spacing between thumbnails gets larger -- not the photo itself.

My laptop is still on Windows 10, and Extra Large view there is much larger than the Large view setting.

Can you help?

    Is there still no solution for this? I've got a similar issue. There is definitely noticeable difference, but it's not extra anything. I have minor vision issues and the text I have no problem reading (at 200% scale and 2280×1920 res, both the recommended setting), but I still can't see my images enough to know what exactly I'm opening.

    My previews are literally one inch of packed animation frames.

    I just want the icons bigger, not the entire window, btw. Basically, your vision accessibility is severely lacking if there's no answer to this problem.

    I've had the same issue ever since I started using Windows 11. Yes, the extra large icons are a bit bigger, but not nearly as large as on Windows 10. Seeing the number of complaints online regarding this very issue, Microsoft apparently doesn't really care about fixing it. It's as bad as the bug that opened folders at the bottom of the screen instead of scrolling them to the top so you could see the contents. They just can't seem to get Windows Explorer right.

    Thanks for your advice.

    I've tried to change the scale factor but it doesn't change the thumbnails. And I don't think we should lower the resolution otherwise you lose in picture quality.

    It seems to me that it is just another stupid bug from MS..

    This issue is related with Windows 11 Resolution and scale feature. Go to your display settings and change your resolution. Then adjust the scale of the screen as well. I changed the settings as per my previous Windows 10 settings and it fixed the issue.

    September 2022, all updates installed on new PC with Windows 11 Pro, but this very annoying bug is still here..

    Is there anybody in MS looking at this ?
