make Windows 11 photo thumbnails larger than extra large in file explorer

Now using Windows 11. When I open File Explorer to view photo thumbnails and set the view to Extra Large, it is not any larger than when I set the view to Large. The only difference between Large and Extra Large is that the spacing between thumbnails gets larger -- not the photo itself.

My laptop is still on Windows 10, and Extra Large view there is much larger than the Large view setting.

Can you help?

    When you go into your folder the easiest way to show extra large icons in windows 11. Click on your folder to open it up. In the bottom righthand side is an icon. hold your mouse over it and it'll say, "displays items by using large thumbnails" click on this then go onto your file, then view and click extra large icons....That will work.

    It looks like pictures taken in portrait mode are unfortunately squashed to fit into the 'landscape' format of the Windows11 file explorer. I'm fairly sure this did not happen in windows 10.

    Since upgrade to from Win10 to Win11, the some of the aspect ratios of thumbnail images in my photographs folders are incorrect, as if file explorer doesn't appear to be treating the images as having square pixels. Is there a soloution to this problem?

    Sorry, but you said that the display set to Large or Extra Large made no difference as they were the same size, but that's not what I see in the image, there doesn't seem to be a problem, in Extra Large the image is much larger, the spacing increases because the photos are horizontal.

    I understand that on the W10 it may be a little different, you can use the Windows+F key shortcut to send your suggestion to the developers.
