Introduction : About a week ago now, my CPU started idling around 60-70C with nothing open. It used to be around 50C - I have sufficient airflow in my case (Meshify C). I don’t remember installing any programs or updates around this time - in fact I think it started while I was in the middle of using the computer. It had been running fine for around a year. Problem : When I boot into Windows, all fans ramp up to full for a bit, then calm down. My idle temperature with nothing open is 60-70C, and maxes out at 80C if I put it under load. When I open some applications, the fans ramp up to full for a bit So far, I have: Reseated CPU/AIO Dusted my computer Replaced thermal paste (MX-4) Reset BIOS Cleared CMOS Done a fresh install (where it was still overheating before installing anything) Run Windows Memory Diagnostics (no problems) Changed power plan to balanced Run chkdsk (no problems) Other Information When in Safe Mode, the fans don’t run as high (so I assume that the temperature is fine, but I can’t tell because monitors don’t work) I didn’t have temperature problems in Ubuntu MATE when I checked with lm-sensors I have no overclocks except for XMP on the RAM System Specs Ryzen 9 5900X NViDIA RTX 3070 MSI X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi MSI CoreLiquid 360R 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Sabrent Rocket 4 (500GB) Windows 11 Pro (22000.434)

I'm not promising it will help you but try and disable indexing and see if that helps. There are a lot of people with indexing problems wince W11 and many complaining that indexing is causing high CPU usage and overheating. It worked for me. I have a Ace Helios 500 Gaming laptop and never had an issue with W10. With W11 the CPU would be 95c just browsing the net the whole system would sometimes shut down for protection.

Same issue here. I upgraded awhile back and was fine but went back to 10. Decided to get back on 11 again and my idle temps that were 40-50 are now hitting upwards of 85... Edit: I changed to balanced profile - and reset my fan profiles in BIOS and now my idle temps are 40-50 (usually 41-42) so all good now. I also turned off Search indexing because I read that could cause a problem, so that could have been what fixed it. I may turn it back on later to see if that was the culprit.

Yea I wanted to try windows 11. processor was idling around 67-70c and as such throttling...welp Windows 11 first impression on me has been..that issue..so I rolled back to windows 10 and temp's are back to normal...hopefully they keep windows 10 around like xp stayed around past it's due date because windows 11 bugs....like the cockroaches in MIB.

Hello guys I did just fresh build with Ryzen 7 5800x RTX 3080 12GB MSI Tomahawk b550 Got exactly same problem on Windows 11 i was in shock when i saw my CPU with no apps and software turned on at 78C i thought maybe cooling is bad but i got 360m corsair AiO cooler i was ready to buy windows 11 now i know im buying windows 10 thanks guys

Hi I'm surya I'm from india My hp laptop to day updated in windows 11 After updating I'm facing heating issue and battery drain pls solved the my problem my humble request pls how to fix the problem????
