Introduction : About a week ago now, my CPU started idling around 60-70C with nothing open. It used to be around 50C - I have sufficient airflow in my case (Meshify C). I don’t remember installing any programs or updates around this time - in fact I think it started while I was in the middle of using the computer. It had been running fine for around a year. Problem : When I boot into Windows, all fans ramp up to full for a bit, then calm down. My idle temperature with nothing open is 60-70C, and maxes out at 80C if I put it under load. When I open some applications, the fans ramp up to full for a bit So far, I have: Reseated CPU/AIO Dusted my computer Replaced thermal paste (MX-4) Reset BIOS Cleared CMOS Done a fresh install (where it was still overheating before installing anything) Run Windows Memory Diagnostics (no problems) Changed power plan to balanced Run chkdsk (no problems) Other Information When in Safe Mode, the fans don’t run as high (so I assume that the temperature is fine, but I can’t tell because monitors don’t work) I didn’t have temperature problems in Ubuntu MATE when I checked with lm-sensors I have no overclocks except for XMP on the RAM System Specs Ryzen 9 5900X NViDIA RTX 3070 MSI X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi MSI CoreLiquid 360R 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Sabrent Rocket 4 (500GB) Windows 11 Pro (22000.434)

Realtek HD Universal Driver 6.3.9600.2311 Fixed the issues related to Realtek HD Audio Universal Service

@Mkstraight/TCC5/BhavithK/TL_Calibur/M&M1983/mhrascan In February 2022, I filed a bug to Microsoft with my findings. However, I never got any reply from them. Since then, I was not updating any Windows 11 updates. So today, I restored my Windows 11 backup ( I use Acronis ) of February 2022 and updated my Windows 11 to the latest to check whether Microsoft has fixed it. It looks like they did. I am not getting any CPU overheating issues due to Windows updates. In the idle state, temp ranges from 41C-45C. Also, unlike earlier, Windows 11 is not suggesting or installing the previous problematic updates anymore. (ie. KB5010414, KB5010474, KB5010386) KB5010414 was not a preview update before, however now it's been marked as a preview update on the Microsoft site after they realized the issue. Refer to the screenshots below. It's the "Realtek HD Audio Universal Service." The CPU temperature reaches 84C to 87C while this service runs in the background. To fix this for the time being either Kill it from the task manager. Disable the service from the startup I hope this helps. (Note: My motherboard uses a Realtek ALC4080 codec. It could be a driver-specific error for this codec as well.) I had the same issue, from one of the posts above I checked installed updates in control panel and removed the only one I saw from the list (KB5010474) - it helped so far and the temperatures are back to normal.

Hello, How do you switch back to windows 10 please? I have the exact same issue and my pc's performance is terrible because of the overheating

I have a B450 mobo, had a Ryzen 5 2600 and now a Ryzen 5 5600x (both overheated). 32gb ddr4 ram, GTX 1660TI I don't over clock so everything is at stock value. With Windows 10 my CPU never ever came close to overheating, but now after upgrading -playing a simple game with low system requirements my CPU has topped 100 degrees and the fan is working like crazy to try keep up. Microsoft this is a serious problem... please fix it. I've been searching the internet for answers and there is an overwhelming amount of people with this same issue.

Problem:

I had the same issue,
