CPU Overheating in Windows 11

It isnt hardware issue for sure. I had no problems when I installed windows, but few months later boom, it started heating and shutting down when playing red dead redemption..

..it heated so much I actually had to change mx6 heatpaste on my processor and water cooling..

..after that it worked nicely for a while and boom.. now I have another problem. If I shutdown my computer and start it again it overheats in the starting of windows. And doesnt cool down after that. So I need to reset my computer when starting and the problem goes away but this is really annoying.

Microsoft is telling its customers fault, it isnt.

People in the microsoft do bad software and if I wouldnt play I would change to MAC.

If something, this is BS.

And I did this throttling down processor thing, but it doesnt solve this starting up heating problem. If the problem was in my tech then I wouldnt be able to play for hours and hours of games without no problems and no overheating at all.

This last update destroyed my PC!!!!! Straight after the update the PC rebooted and after about 2 minutes the fans all came on full and the PC rebooted itself. It was still booting up and it switched off. Now it won't even switch on to BIOS, CPU is toast. Microsoft are a bunch of imbeciles!

As I said earlier in this thread, I had the same problem. I found the problem went away if I throttled my CPU to 99%. If I put it to 100% the CPU often overheats and shuts down my system.

To throttle: Start>Search bar enter "Edit power plan">Change advanced power settings>Processor power management>Maximum processor state>Plugged in: 99%.

Solved the issue for me. Running Asus Vivobook 16, Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics @ 3.30 GHz

I found a fix that works for my case (PC desktop). Even if you're on a laptop, I'd give it a try as it's easy to revert the changes.

I tried turning off the Virtualization settings in BIOS as mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread but that only exacerbated the problem so I went back to turn them on again.

What solved it for me, and I can reliably reproduce this, is dialing down on the Processor power management in Power Options.

Go to Control Panel (or type in Power Plan in Windows search bar) Hardware and Sound > Power Options > click on "Change plan settings" for whichever plan you're currently using.

Click on "Change advanced power settings" at the bottom.

Expand "Processor power management" and set "Minimum processor state" to 5% and "Maximum processor state" to 99% in my case down from 100%.

Do a restart and afterwards go back to check the values you've just changed to ensure the system displays them. In my case, I have a msi software that forces on the Ultimate Performance power plan after a restart so I had to drop down to 99% from 100% on that plan.

With these changes, I no longer hear the fans going crazy at the logon screen or during gaming and I don't notice a drop in processing power though technically there is a 1% difference. CPU temps during gaming are anywhere between 50 - 60 C instead of 90 - 95 C.
