how do i stop downloading and installing windows 11. I had a perfectly working computer before you ask me about this **** update. can't do anything with my computer now. so irritating when i have things to do and it's just destroyed and useless now. unbelievable i don't have time for this ****

You can tweak the start menu more to your liking. What don't you like about the Windows 11 start menu? As far as stopping Windows 11 from downloading again, there are some solutions further back in this thread although I don't personally feel comfortable with any of them. So, I am still pausing the installation of Windows 11 at this point.
It is too small, you cannot group tiles together and it requires a lot of scrolling to get to the item uou want. I can access everyone of the numerous programs from the start menu tiles on win10, in this one it requires scrolling and clicking several times to get to what I want. Why it can't just be expandable in size is beyond me. Why you can't group like files together is another missed opportunity l

I have very strong feelings about not using Windows 11. The mistrust goes back many years. I started on MS-DOS and one day loaded Window 3 as an app. Later I switched to Windows 3 as my operating system and went up the numbers until I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. Each new Windows number eliminated programs that I really liked. Several new Windows required that I replace the version of my Microsoft Office that I enjoyed with one that was more complex. One day, Microsoft decided (without consulting me the owner of the laptop) that I needed to upgrade to Windows 10. My wife's laptop received the identical threatening information. Microsoft updated both of our laptops against our will. I filled out the necessary forms and went through my computer to assess the damage. I don't like Windows 10. My wife, on the other hand, mashed the "I Decline" button when asked to agree to user agreement. Windows 10 vanished - and today she blissfully uses Windows 7. I have MS-Office 2010. I am 72 and have no desire of learning a mess of new programs. Wish they had a Senior Opt-out.
I don't blame you. I'm a senior also and learning all this new computer technical garbage stresses me out so much.
This whole whole Windows 11 is a total mess for right now. I feel your pain.
