I have a 2-year-old ASUS laptop. Shortly after windows 11 was released I started getting messages about installing win 11 which I ignored. One day after turning on my laptop, windows 11 installed without my permission. My speakers no longer worked, plus several application problems, so I backed win 11 out. Since that time, I have had a pending update to win 11 again, but it has not installed. So, I assume that Microsoft no longer forces a win 11 install. I still get updates for 10 occasionally.

I posted two links this morning. One of them says use the registery if you have Windows 10 home and use GROUP POLICY if you have Windows 10 PRO. I used GP.

I might do this if further harrassed by Microsoft. https://www.howtogeek.com/224471/how-to-prevent-windows-10-from-automatically-downloading-updates/ Thanks

No, that is not the answer as no one is forcing you to use Windows 11.

If you follow the steps in the very beginning of the thread in how to change the registry and stop the downloading of Windows 11, it will solve your issue.
