Loss of the sleep mode is definitely a drag. What are they thinking? And what is the best way to ask them to fix it?
Windows 11 Screensaver / Display Sleep functions not working
A few weeks ago, I can't remember exactly when it occurred (May have been after installing W11) my screensaver and display sleep functions just completely stopped working. I have tried every trick in the book. I have updated my BIOS and chipset drivers. Powercfg -requests shows an audio stream running from realtek, I tried overriding it but didn't solve anything. I confirmed every power option setting is correctly enabled. Basically I've spent extensive time googling and troubleshooting this to no avail.
The one thing that did fix it was running the DISM restore commands in CMD Prompt, however, it only works temporarily for the initial reboot after running that command, and then it stops working again if I reboot a 2nd time.
What can I do to fix this problem?

2022-04-29T11:49:10+00:00 Is there an expected fix coming for this? I've gone through all of these steps, as well as disconnecting my headset and controller, with no better results. I'm getting really sick of turning my monitor off every time I walk away.

2022-05-02T13:53:55+00:00 Been having this problem for months, and tried so many things to fix it. I sort of realize how and why it triggers but cant find any information on it at all.. maybe someone here is smart enough to help?
so by default my computers montiors will sleep like I expect them to after 10 minutes. usually my work week i wont ever launch any games, so it works throughout the week.
on the weekend though.. ill launch steam and start playing a game. sometimes after 10 minutes or so my screen will flash black for a second or two as if my graphics driver is crashing, but it recovers. whenever this happens is when my monitor will no longer sleep. I can usually get it to trigger when im streaming on discord also. My card is older but i can load into windows 10 and its never a problem. Ive fully updated my graphics driver. i even straight up deleted it and the app, and redownloaded completely. ive re-sat my graphics card back into the pci-e slot and even reset my bios and everything.
then i found that running elevated cmd and typing in 'powercfg /requests' will show "Legacy Kernal Driver" when my screen first turns black. ive used the override command to approve it and it still doesnt work. also that can mean apparently anything and ive tried everything. I also dont have any drivers that arnt fully up to date. Bios is also on the latest version.
I feel like im so close to figuring this out (btw my 3 best friends also upgraded to windows 11 and all 3 have the exact same issue i have...) ill list my specs below even though i have a feeling they dont matter too much here... any ideas?
x570 UD motherboard
ryzen 5600x (upgraded from 3600 but still had the issue on the 3600 as well)
32gb of 3200 ddr4 ram
nvidia gtx 970
(friend 1 is on b450m ryzen 5600x 32gb of 3000 ddr4, and uses a gtx 1060 3gb)
(friend 2 is on -unknown motherboard- ryzen 5000 series (probably 5600 or 700) 32gb of ram and a 1060 3gb as well)
((also from my knowledge this might not even be a AMD specific issue, although i do know ryzen still has a fTPM issue that will get a bios update soonish for))
-edit: forgot to mention, problem resolves if i restart computer and dont launch any games or stream on discord. all 3 of us are on a dual monitor setup as well

2022-05-05T05:56:49+00:00 I have this same issue. Works after reboot, but then just stops and never re-engages. I tried every suggestion in this thread, and none of them resolve the problem.

2022-05-21T07:35:04+00:00 I had the same problem (screen saver, display off and even sleep not engaging automatically), but every solution posted here (or on any other website for that matter) didn't work for me. I unplugged everything from my computer, I changed every power setting, I ran sfc and dism, but nothing helped.
What solved this issue for me is to install all optional driver updates through windows update. There were some HID drivers and something else, but after the updates screen saver and display sleep work as intended.
