Windows 11 Screensaver / Display Sleep functions not working

A few weeks ago, I can't remember exactly when it occurred (May have been after installing W11) my screensaver and display sleep functions just completely stopped working. I have tried every trick in the book. I have updated my BIOS and chipset drivers. Powercfg -requests shows an audio stream running from realtek, I tried overriding it but didn't solve anything. I confirmed every power option setting is correctly enabled. Basically I've spent extensive time googling and troubleshooting this to no avail.

The one thing that did fix it was running the DISM restore commands in CMD Prompt, however, it only works temporarily for the initial reboot after running that command, and then it stops working again if I reboot a 2nd time.

What can I do to fix this problem?

Yeah, unfortunately, this problem started when I had an AMD GPU under Windows 10 and has persisted. I upgraded to a 3070 and have the NVIDIA overlay off and it still happens.

The only thing that fixes the problem for me is to disable "HID-compliant game controller."

It is ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that that particular driver causes problems for a lot of folks and has for years. Very frustrating.

On the other hand, the NVIDIA overlay shouldn't be causing that problem, either, and I know a lot of folks have solved their issues by disabling it.

New Windows update as of today Jan. 26, 2023 KB5022360 highlights 5 fixes. This one below is #5 in their highlights.

"This update addresses an issue that affects some game controllers. When the game controller is connected to the computer, the computer might not go to Sleep mode."

Hopefully this is the game controller fix that we've been wanting!

    WOW. This actually fixed it.

Only took several years and two OS's, but by Jove, they've done it.

It is, indeed, a Christmas miracle.
