The error “The specified module could not be found” happening in Windows 11

May I know what softwares you used to open the .jpeg file and .mp4 file. Try to change another ones to access to see the effect. If this error appears once again. That tells us the Windows get damaged.

You may then try to perform an in-place update on your system to upgrade/repair the system (this is a non-destructive repair of the system, which is different from reinstalling the system. Normally, installed applications remain the same and update the system to the latest version.)

I normally use "Photos" app - the icon with the "blue mountain like" image

I also have photo shop elements installed - I'll use the photo shop app for the next few weeks to see if issue re-occurs

My PC has 200+ GB free space and I have always installed with default folders

So I understand your reply to mean that if the error does re-occur using the Photo Shop app then I should try the "in-place" update - right?

So the error re-occurred. Here are some test results.

==============================================

PICTURES with extensions .jpeg, .jpg, .HEIC

App: "Photos"

Result: Error - Specified procedure could not be found

Apps: "Paint" and "Adobe Photoshop"

Result: Successful Display

=============================================

VIDEO with extensions .mp4, .MOV

App: "Movies & TV"

Result: Error - Specified procedure could not be found

App: "Windows Media Player"

Result: Successful Playback

So what would be the best way to "fix" "Photos" and "Movies & TV" ?

Is there a way to just re-install these apps?

Methods to uninstall and redeploy these apps could be tried:

1. Uninstall apps:

• Press and hold Windows + X and open Windows PowerShell (Administrator) > Type: get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage > Hit Enter to run the command to uninstall Photos app.
• Press and hold Windows + X and open Windows PowerShell (Administrator) > Type: get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Movies & TV* | remove-appxpackage > Hit Enter to run the command to uninstall Movies & TV app.

Download apps from Microsoft Store to see the result.

2. Press and hold Windows + X and open Windows PowerShell (Administrator) > Type: Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} > Press Enter to run this command to redeploy all built-in apps of Windows.

The same problem here! For me the only way to resolve it is to remove the app via powershell and reinstall it. Than it works a few times, but the error will be back! I don't understand where the error message is coming from, because it's not with all the pictures. Some pictures will work with the photo app. Others will have the error message with the same file extension. It's the: "The specified procedure could not be found"-error. A fresh installed pc. It's only happening with pictures in the Microsoft photo app. I installed all the updates. I read many comments online with the same problem....

Just found out if I get the error-massage: "The specified procedure could not be found", then I doubleclick... rightclick -> open with -> choose other app: MS photos -> check always use this app to open .jpg. Than the photo app opens with the picture. If I dubbleclick (left) on the picture again, I get the error message. Strange...

I also really hope Microsoft brings back the 'un-combine/ungroup' option for the windows/folders on the taskbar, this is really annoying to me. I work with a lot of folders, it's not workable.. and than the search function has a lot of bugs (still)!! The (explorer) appcrashes come on Microsoft!
