how do I fix desktop and file folders that do not refresh automatically?

If you are using Windows 11, you can try this:

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. On the top bar, click the right most "..." to open more option
  3. Click "option"

there are three tabs on the top, what you have to do is to click the "restore to default" button on each tab.

remember to click "apply".

    This is the solution, for those who uninstalled onedrive, it should be noted that it is not deleted so easily, what they have to do is look for it and see if they have it available, otherwise the best thing to do is download it again and log in , then they do what is in this comment, it will work 100%

    ACTUALLY, i found that this removing of the One Drive app and Folder had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM that I originally posted here!!

    Running sfc /scannow under admin and then running the Windows Reg Repair Tool found a corrupted line and repaired it! Now it immediately shows any new content on the Desktop.

    Either turn on the OneDrive on start-up or uninstall it. Then it will work fine.

    This solution totally fixed the issue for me! Thanks a lot, Szczerbo! I have tried several other fixes before which didnt help.

    I had a mapped Linux Samba drive in Win11. Btw thats too sad that we cant have refreshing feature altogether with mapped network drive.
