how do I fix desktop and file folders that do not refresh automatically?

If you are using Windows 11, you can try this:

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. On the top bar, click the right most "..." to open more option
  3. Click "option"

there are three tabs on the top, what you have to do is to click the "restore to default" button on each tab.

remember to click "apply".

    Open Task Manager and right and end every instance of Windows Explorer.

    Click File, Run New Taks, type explorer.exe and ok

    That worked for me

    THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION THAT WORKED AND IT WAS ALL ONEDRIVES FAULT!!!!!

    ONEDRIVE WAS MAKING ME UNABLE TO SEE MY NEW SAVED FILES IN DESKTOP UNLESS I PRESSED F5!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THANKS MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

    JUST UNLINK ONEDRIVE FROM YOUR PC AND IT WILL WORK AGAIN!‌ DAMN IT!

    "THE BEST WAY IS REMOVE DESKTOP FROM ONEDRIVE "

    Hi i am CSE student i was having the same problem for a long time and done many thing to fix it

    • CHANGING RIGISTRY
    • RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS
    • RESTART WINDOWS EXPLOERER
    • CLEAR CACHE
