If you are using Windows 11, you can try this:

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. On the top bar, click the right most "..." to open more option
  3. Click "option"

there are three tabs on the top, what you have to do is to click the "restore to default" button on each tab.

remember to click "apply".

Hope this help.

Frank

THANKS - VERY GOOD

Thank You. I understand your Reply.

However, it sounds to me like you have abandoned using OneDrive, and the full concept of it, perhaps because it causes problems with File Explorer in Windows 11.

I adopted OneDrive based upon multiple Microsoft representations regarding its Features & Functionality, notably that OneDrive could be used on multiple devices.

I use OneDrive across 9 devices, and, it works well for that purpose.

I also use the OneDrive feature: Always keep on this device. This option works well for those times when the internet is down and when I travel to a locale with no or poor internet. I can still work.

So, I am still looking for a Root Cause to Windows 11 File Explorer not refreshing.

It OneDrive is the Root Cause then I am still seeking for that elusive Final Resolution.

I have used Windows since version 1.0. File Explorer worked well up through Windows 10.

When you unlink your device from OneDrive and stop it from backuping your device autimatically you can still use OneDrive is a cloud drive to save documents. The point is that when you unlink it you stop it from acting as your virtual destop. I personally don't rely on OneDrive for saving my documents or photos on the cloud. You will still see OneDrive in the File Explorer and you can move files to it.

    Thank You for the post.

Are you suggesting that users abandon OneDrive?

I ask because I do not read in your post anything about reconnecting OneDrive.

    Many Thank Yous.
