how do I fix desktop and file folders that do not refresh automatically?

If you are using Windows 11, you can try this:

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. On the top bar, click the right most "..." to open more option
  3. Click "option"

there are three tabs on the top, what you have to do is to click the "restore to default" button on each tab.

remember to click "apply".

    This fix did not work. Does it apply to Windows 11? Is there anything else it could be. I had the same problem at ties with Windows 10, but it was easily fixed through the task manage. thanks

    1. Use the cleaning software to clear the system cache.
    2. There may be a problem with the registry settings or the lack of relevant setting options.

    Win'+'R', enter "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor, and then expand the following location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update

    Click 'Update', find the name 'UpdateMode' on the right, double-click to open it, a window will appear and change its value to 0 (hexadecimal), OK.

    1. If you can't find a new one for Uptate, click Control, right mouse button, 'New', 'Item'

    Name the new item, "Update"

    Click the right mouse button of Update, "New">"DWORD (32-bit) Value", rename, the data of UpdateMode is 0

    Exit the Registry Editor and restart the system.
