Windows 11's left and right hands aren't communicating very well: I restarted the Windows Search service and in the Indexing Options window the "Items indexed" count is slowly ticking up again. However, below the count the window still displays "Indexing is paused" and the "Pause" button remains grayed out.
Windows 11 Indexing is paused
What the hell is up with Windows 11 and the indexing being paused?
I was told by customer help to rebuild, which I did. And it took forever to index a few thousand files (because "indexing is paused") and was still not finished when...
Yesterday, windows took it upon itself to start rebuilding without discussing it with me first, and now I am back at square one - its taking like a bazillion years because "indexing is paused".
All search results return as not found !!!!!!!!!!
Does anybody know how to fix this ****?

2023-03-15T03:18:56+00:00 This workaround works for me:
- Bring up the “Edit group policy” control panel by typing ‘group’ in the search bar.
- Enable 'Disable indexer backoff':
- Disable 'Prevent indexing Microsoft Office Outlook':
- Disable 'Prevent indexing when running on battery power to conserve energy'':
For me, I believe all three were necessary to work around this problem.

2023-04-28T13:53:55+00:00 As soon as I made the above changes the "Paused" warning went away and the Pause button returned. The frequency of items discovered went up dramatically.
Thanx LivingRoom2 for providing this information. Why is it that with all of the resources Microsoft has, all of the people and data handling capability, that they can never provide answers to the resolve the stupid issues their software people create!
