Windows 11 Indexing is paused

What the hell is up with Windows 11 and the indexing being paused?

I was told by customer help to rebuild, which I did. And it took forever to index a few thousand files (because "indexing is paused") and was still not finished when...

Yesterday, windows took it upon itself to start rebuilding without discussing it with me first, and now I am back at square one - its taking like a bazillion years because "indexing is paused".

All search results return as not found !!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody know how to fix this ****?

Thanks! I saw that article. I am actually using StartAllBack which also has a combine option.

    MarcellusBuchheit:

UPDATE: Since the "Tuesday update" of April 12 it seems that my indexing status is always showing "Indexing complete". I will keep an eye of this but I hope other members will have the same positive experience.

Yes, I was initially hopeful after the April 13 update, however the problem returned.

I agree that my "restart WSearch" fix is not a permanent solution: In my system after I put my computer into sleep or rebooted I had frequently to manually restart the service again.

One note regarding "Windows 11 took away 'never combine' on the taskbar": I use since Windows 8 Stardock's Start menu (now Start11) and this just does not have in "Modern style" a real good mix of Windows 7/10/11 menu GUI ideas but also now the option to manage the taskbar with combining options, see details at https://www.theverge.com/2022/3/16/22980730/start11-windows-11-taskbar-ungrouping-features. It is still not perfect (I hope for enhancements with future updates) but definitely better than the "this is all what Windows 11 has left over". For me, this $6 for Start11 from Windows to Windows version is still the most productive investment in my Windows GUI experience: Microsoft should just license Start11 and increase the Windows price by $6...

Agreed - though the "fix" works for a while, it randomly stops! I have to keep redoing the "fix" to find files, but even then, it messes with the quick finds... PLEASE MICROSOFT...

Well that's a buzzkill :( Kidding aside, between this and the fact that Windows 11 took away "never combine" on the taskbar - I would go back to 10 if I could.
