Windows 11 Bluetooth no sound/microphone and crashing

My Bluetooth earphones have been working well all the time until I upgraded my laptop to Windows 11. The laptop shows my earphones are connected, but neither sound nor microphone works. The browser and Zoom crash every time I try to use Bluetooth earphones to listen to music or join meetings.

I have tried disconnecting/reconnecting Bluetooth earphones, turning on/off Bluetooth, resetting my earphones, restarting my laptop, and none of these resolves the issues of no sound/mic and crashing. I even bought a new pair of Bluetooth earphones, and it did not work either.

I think this is a bug in Windows 11. Am I the only one facing this issue? What exactly is going on with Windows 11 Bluetooth? And what else can I do now?

    I finally got it working on my new Windows 11 machine. I went to Control Panel > Sound and under Playback you see one of the Speakers is "Sonos Move". It was disabled, so I right-clicked on it and clicked "Enable" and it worked! Hope this helps someone!

    Thankyou so much for this. I've been stuck for 6 days worried i'd have to buy a new headset. This is the only solution that worked for me.

    the problem is temporarily fixed by go to device manager -> sound, video and game controllers -> right click Intel (not) smart sound technology for bluetooth audio -> Uninstall device -> Attempt to remove the driver for this device -> uninstall. Click Action on the top nav bar -> scan for hardware changes and reconnect your bluetooth headsets
