Window 11 taskbar auto-hide turning off

I switched to Windows 11 a few weeks ago, and ever since then, the taskbar auto-hide quits working when the computer comes out of Sleep mode. I have to be away from the computer for a while before it will happen, and I believe it has something to do with me running dual monitors. When I wake my computer, my secondary monitor appears to come up faster than my primary by just a fraction. Once my primary is on, there is a message saying something about the taskbar already being hidden (I think) and the taskbar on my primary monitor has the taskbar up. When I go to Taskbar Behaviors, 'Automatically hide the taskbar' is no longer checked. I'll select it again, and it will work fine until the system goes back into Sleep mode for a while, again.

To work around this nagging problem, I use explorerPatcher https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher and set the "Taskbar style" to "Windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher)".

This completely replaces the Windows Taskbar with its own implementation. (Read the info on the Github page for details.)

BEWARE that if you have Windows 11 24H2 you need to use the above "Taskbar style" setting to use this app. You will also have to tweak your Windows Defender settings. The developers of the app and several other Windows 11 Desktop enhancement apps believe that Microsoft is trying the prevent apps like this from working. The Github page has information on this as well.

2025 and I have the issue. Nowadays I switched to an OLED monitor, so keeping it ALWAYS autohide is essential to avoid burnout.

    Computer is fully updated.

    Hi Microsoft,

Please fix this, it is now 3 years later and the auto hide function keeps disabling on the taskbar.
I am seriously considering moving to Linux permanently at this point.

I get this when waking up laptop connected to monitor via HDMI. An information window appears titled "Taskbar" with the message "A toolbar is already hidden on this side of your screen. You can have only one auto-hide toolbar per side."

After this, "Automatically hide the taskbar" is unchecked in the taskbar settings.

This is very frustrating and the top answer is not a solution.

I'd pretty much forgotten about this issue as I'm now back on the beta channel running build 26120.3576 and don't see it anymore.
