Just found this thread. Wondering how many % of Win 11 users are NOT concerned by that. All those with just 1 screen I guess.

I switched to Windows 11 a few weeks ago, and ever since then, the taskbar auto-hide quits working when the computer comes out of Sleep mode. I have to be away from the computer for a while before it will happen, and I believe it has something to do with me running dual monitors. When I wake my computer, my secondary monitor appears to come up faster than my primary by just a fraction. Once my primary is on, there is a message saying something about the taskbar already being hidden (I think) and the taskbar on my primary monitor has the taskbar up. When I go to Taskbar Behaviors, 'Automatically hide the taskbar' is no longer checked. I'll select it again, and it will work fine until the system goes back into Sleep mode for a while, again.

2022-09-12T14:15:58+00:00 Disable the Show Badges on Taskbar option Using Settings app <--- This fixed my issue for Windows 11. Was able to restart the laptop, reconnect to my docking station with the auto-hide still being enabled.
Update: Was only a temporary fix. It eventually reverted back. Happened within 24 of making the change. Problem still exists for me.

2022-09-16T10:12:47+00:00 No, senorwillburr, sadly, even those with one screen are scuppered. I have 2 set-ups. The 2 screen set-up has now been working well for some months, and the unhide works on either screen, so that puts paid to that argument. But my single computer has either on or off, and to unhide I have to press the windows key every time. None of the 'fixes' I've tried have done any good at all, and I have to agree that a fix within the next few years would be a welcome relief!
I'd also like to regain the small icons that were so useful, but I guess if they can't fix the major issues, then we'll probably be whistling in the wind for the small icons for several generations to come.

2022-09-16T14:08:28+00:00 There is a registry setting to bring back the small icons, though it does mess up the date on the right side of the task bar (bottom part of the date is off the screen). I don't remember what the setting is.
It's been a few months now, but ever since I uninstalled Teams, I've not had the taskbar issue, and I am using dual monitors with auto-hide.

Yes, I too have had no problems with dual monitors - although I do still have Teams installed.
It's my single screen independent laptop that won't play the game. It would be really good if Microsoft decided to come clean on this and tell us their future plans. I installed in December, and it's already nearing the end of September. Surely that's long enough to wait for an answer.
