I switched to Windows 11 a few weeks ago, and ever since then, the taskbar auto-hide quits working when the computer comes out of Sleep mode. I have to be away from the computer for a while before it will happen, and I believe it has something to do with me running dual monitors. When I wake my computer, my secondary monitor appears to come up faster than my primary by just a fraction. Once my primary is on, there is a message saying something about the taskbar already being hidden (I think) and the taskbar on my primary monitor has the taskbar up. When I go to Taskbar Behaviors, 'Automatically hide the taskbar' is no longer checked. I'll select it again, and it will work fine until the system goes back into Sleep mode for a while, again.

Same problem, auto-hide turning off after sleep. Not always though. Also can't change any power settings. Monitor is set to go to sleep after 15 minutes, but it happen after 5 minutes. PC is set to go to sleep after two hours, but is goes to sleep after one hours. It's was fresh install and that was happening form start.
Never had a problem doing task bars on multiple screens in Windows 10.
Thanks, but no, this is not the answer. I run two computers. One has a second screen. The task bar auto-hide will not stay on. The other has only one screen - it's own. The task bar auto-hide will not stay on. Also, since yesterday (and a few times in the past as well), on both computers, when auto-hide is on, sometimes the only way I can get the taskbar back is to press the windows key. All these things have been a problem on both computers since I installed Win11 4 months ago! It's getting monotonous.
I am going round in circles here. I must have read each 'solution' several times. My efforts to perform the action in safe mode have made no difference at all. Thanks for trying though. I'm really hoping that one day I'm going to get a reply from Microsoft as to when they are going to fix this problem. I'm seriously considering rolling back to windows 10. The win10 toolbar was so much better, and so much more versatile as well. When will Microsoft learn that if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
It might be because you have the taskbar on both your screens. Although you might not be able to have it on both screens, the "hide taskbar" with one taskbar works fine. With 2 it doesn't, I'm pretty sure. Sorry I'm a few months late.
I realise I'm replying to an answer given back in January, and I'm sure you're fully aware that this is not a 'fix' but instructions on how to do this in a fully working program.
I appeared here earlier on to say that hide the toolbar keeps switching off, so the toolbar doesn't hide. I have tried some fixes given here (not the coding one because I truly don't want to break anything else!)
After having experienced a half-full toolbar (ie icons missing) and toolbar stuck open so I couldn't remove it or otherwise stuck closed so I had to click windows key to reawaken, I decided to explore changing the setting in safe mode, as someone had deemed it a roaring success. Sadly, not so me. I've started the thing in safe mode, changed the settings, restarted, and guess what? - toobar setting is still on 'hide the taskbar', but when I hid it, it refused to come back without the windows key. So nothing's changed. Except it's worse. It still refuses to hide, yet when it does hide it seems permanently stuck in hide without the windows key.
Come on, Microsoft. It's been 4 long months now! Why did you tell me to take this devastating step? My win10 toolbar was almost perfect. It hid when not needed, I could miniaturise it, and if I really needed it out of the way, I could throw it to another side of the computer screen. If you were going to make drastic changes to the toolbar behaviour, you should have ensured it worked before foisting it onto your unsuspecting public. Any news about when this disaster is going to be put right, or should I simply rewind to windows 10 and have done with it? It's unbelievable how much time and frustration this has cost me in the last 4 months.
