Window 11 taskbar auto-hide turning off

I switched to Windows 11 a few weeks ago, and ever since then, the taskbar auto-hide quits working when the computer comes out of Sleep mode. I have to be away from the computer for a while before it will happen, and I believe it has something to do with me running dual monitors. When I wake my computer, my secondary monitor appears to come up faster than my primary by just a fraction. Once my primary is on, there is a message saying something about the taskbar already being hidden (I think) and the taskbar on my primary monitor has the taskbar up. When I go to Taskbar Behaviors, 'Automatically hide the taskbar' is no longer checked. I'll select it again, and it will work fine until the system goes back into Sleep mode for a while, again.

    LOL - sounds like you need to swap computers with one of us who despise the task bar!

    Since this topic is more than 2 years old, I'm going to post as a new concern, but in case someone is monitoring this topic on the taskbar, I'm also putting it here.

    I have the opposite problem, and it seems to have come with some updates in the last 5-6 weeks. My taskbar keeps switching *TO* autohide. I have not noticed if it is after it goes to sleep (as opposed to randomly changing while in use), but I will suddenly notice that the taskbar is missing - and it shows up as an autohide. I go to the settings, and autohide is OFF.

    I wonder if, while fixing the issue addressed in this topic, it broke the taskbar "don't autohide" setting.

    Yes! It is very frustrating!
    Seems like such a simple issue to fix! This is why I am staying on Win 10, until I hear this gets resolved, or MS stops supporting it.

    "Buttery Taskbar" might be of help to you. I was using it for a bit to compensate while dealing with this issue. It will keep hiding your task bar even if Windows re-enables it.

    Same problem. Totally surprised how old this issue is.

    Yeah. Me too. Really disappointing. Sad, actually. This "little" problem seems to be a BIG pain point for lots of people. And it seems MS is just flat-out ignoring it.

    If MS won't fix it, maybe someone could write a tool that does the very same thing that clicking the "Automatically hide the taskbar" checkbox does.

    The best work-around I have found so far to use the Task Scheduler to run a PowerShell task to set a Registry value and restart Explorer whenever I login or when I unlock the screen.

    But this doesn't help at all when auto-hide gets turned off at some random time while I'm actually at my PC and I'm busy working. And it restarts Windows Explorer, which closes all my Explorer Windows!!! It also seems to cause some of my running apps to change size and location???

    I'll just add this to the list...

    • Desktop Icons moving around to random locations at random times, not just at Login or Unlock.
    • NONE of my Startup Apps that are set up in the Registry - ONLY the Registry - actually get started. (I have to add them to my Startup Folder!!!) MS tells me the ONLY way to fix this is to create a new User and use that.
    • "Automatically hide the taskbar" keeps getting turned off at random times, not just at Login or Unlock.
    • ... the list just keeps on going...
