I switched to Windows 11 a few weeks ago, and ever since then, the taskbar auto-hide quits working when the computer comes out of Sleep mode. I have to be away from the computer for a while before it will happen, and I believe it has something to do with me running dual monitors. When I wake my computer, my secondary monitor appears to come up faster than my primary by just a fraction. Once my primary is on, there is a message saying something about the taskbar already being hidden (I think) and the taskbar on my primary monitor has the taskbar up. When I go to Taskbar Behaviors, 'Automatically hide the taskbar' is no longer checked. I'll select it again, and it will work fine until the system goes back into Sleep mode for a while, again.

I am having the same issue. Every time I select auto-hide in the settings, it suddenly re-enables itself after coming out of sleep. I understand that this is an intermittent problem and it is hard to debug, but I think that Microsoft should make a bigger effort to fix it. Especially considering that we are talking about a feature that has been available since Windows 95. We are now in 2025!
Why is this a problem for me? Because this issue causes my OLED display to risk a burned-in taskbar.

They're most likely not interested in how this problem affects all of us, & moving on to developing their next OS.
They should care more about current customers, because the future is never guaranteed!
Just for this reason, I'll look for another OS for my next PC. I'm retired & I'm not forced to run the software I used for work, which, as far as I understand, only works on Windows.
Sidebar: does anyone know if AutoCAD, SolidWorks, inventor, &/or Revit work on Linux, or another OS, except iOS?

I'm updated to Win 11 Pro 24H2, and AFAICS, the problem still exists.
But I don't see the problem anymore because I'm using ExplorerPatcher: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher
Since I upgraded to Windows 11, I've been using this app to change my Taskbar to look like Windows 10.
But 24H2 makes in impossible for ExplorerPatcher to make all the tweaks to the Taskbar that it did before 24H2, so I believe that the developers had to completely REPLACE the Taskbar with their own implementation to get it to look like Windows 10. (You can read more on the Github Project pages at the link above.) The great thing is, this implementation can give you a Taskbar where Auto-Hide works.
With 24H2, I set the ExplorerPatcher Taskbar style to the new "Windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher)" style.
The app's implementation of the Windows 10 Taskbar does have bugs. The Taskbar on my main monitor does not auto-hide unless I move my cursor over an open window or if I click on the desktop. But that's better than it not hiding at all. (I have reported this problem.)
NOTE that 24H2 Windows Defender (and some other anti-virus apps) flags ExplorerPatcher. The Github pages discuss this and tell you how to deal with it.
The latest Windows updates as of this reply are what caused this same issue to now effect me. I have two displays (extended), and I believe that the issue is related to that. The latest updates have caused this issue, which seems to also be in relation to the PowerToys FancyZones utility, There is now buggy behavior in relation to both, and they both happened at the same time, after KB5041080, KB5041169, or the combination of the two. That's about as far as I give a f, but yes, this is still a continuing issue.
I know that no one from Microsoft is reading this, but hopefully this helps other people out there to at least confirm the frustration. FancyZones are totally screwed up at the moment (Windows will not stay in their place), and I occasionally see a message stating "a toolbar is already hidden on this side of your screen. you can have only one auto-hide toolbar per side.". This message always coincides with my taskbar auto-hide disabling itself.
That's about all I have ascertained so far. Without a direct channel for Microsoft support, I can't take it any further.
