Window 11 taskbar auto-hide turning off

Hello all, does it really make sense for someone to write here every few days that they have the same problem? Solutions would be better. For me, the AutoHide works ok 95% of the time. In most cases it was a message/change in one of the pinned programs' that prevented the hiding.

Yes it is a beneficial, to write everyday that we have the same problem. Because This problem has persisted since launch of Windows 11 and Microsoft has yet to resolve it. Not talking about it will not make it go away.

I'm glad that you were able to resolve your issue, but the rest of us here, unfortunately, have not had that experience.

Thanks, but no, this is not the answer. I run two computers. One has a second screen. The task bar auto-hide will not stay on. The other has only one screen - it's own. The task bar auto-hide will not stay on. Also, since yesterday (and a few times in the past as well), on both computers, when auto-hide is on, sometimes the only way I can get the taskbar back is to press the windows key. All these things have been a problem on both computers since I installed Win11 4 months ago! It's getting monotonous.

I am going round in circles here. I must have read each 'solution' several times. My efforts to perform the action in safe mode have made no difference at all. Thanks for trying though. I'm really hoping that one day I'm going to get a reply from Microsoft as to when they are going to fix this problem. I'm seriously considering rolling back to windows 10. The win10 toolbar was so much better, and so much more versatile as well. When will Microsoft learn that if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

How is this a 'fix'. the Sw should work out of the box - without needing 'specialist' knowledge + 1-2-1 support.

Just to note that I'm having the same problem. However, although I've had various problems with the taskbar refusing to hide, or refusing to reappear since installing win11, this issue seems to have appeared over the last few days. Now, periodically, I return to the computer to find that my setting, automatically hide task bar, has been unticked and the taskbar is permanently on. On reading the previous posts, I also realise that it probably coincides with the computers going into sleep. However, there is one major difference: I run two computers, one with a single monitor and one stand-alone. Both are having the same problemm so it's clearly not linked to the dual monitors. Each time I return, I have to re-tick the automatically hide taskbar setting. It is particularly annoying as, with win10, I had the icons set to small. Now this huge fixed taskbar that I can't move to the side out of the way when troublesome, is completely in the way when using various programs, such as word or excel, to name just 2 examples.

As well as a solution to the current problem, I would like to know whether microsoft has any plans to replace the clumsy new taskbar with one that can be shrunk and moved as before.

I found this thread through a google search. After reading a few other things, none of which fully defined the issue, I thought there is a possibility that Windows Explorer is not saving the setting then it goes through both the sleep or restart events. I tested my theory and proved this correct. I then reset the flag and signed out as a user thinking an orderly shutdown may occur and the flag would be saved. It did the trick. Now the flag is still set whether it sleeps or restarts. However, I would think this works both ways and would have to go through the same procedure to permanently turn it off. :)
