Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"

I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

There are multiple reports of the same - have asked someone on the Team in charge of this feature. Appreciate your patience.

    *Update*

I've been able to get a little further through the process now, although not all the way through it does look better XD

Same issue. I have tried every single "solution" and get the same error message. Brand new Surface Go. I'm taking it back to the store. This is ridiculous.

This issue comes often after a few months, and usually gets resolved within 48 hours. There is no need to return your device.
