Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"

I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

I haven't owned a PC is over 15 years. Bought a Lenovo laptop just to run Minecraft and I am amazed, absolutely amazed that I can't get out of S mode.

There should be no problem switching out if S Mode and it has been covered in the previous responses. In essence it seems a reinstall is the way to go.

In Windows 11 this can be completed using Setting > System > Recovery > then select to Reinstall windows.

Had the same problem. The Windows store was down for a day and a half and I couldn't remove the S-Mode "training wheels". The only solution is to wait it out. I eventually returned the laptop and bought a new one (the old one had insufficient drive space). I don't know why Microsoft thought we needed a castrated version of Windows, I can use a computer without a helmet, thank you, MS!
