Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"

I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

I just got a windows computer yesterday and i cannot log out of s mode. I have tried waiting a while, resetting windows store, etc. pretty much every method online. Are there any other ways to log out of s mode? should i take it to the store? or should I be contacting IT support?

Hi Zion, I am Sanchit, a Windows user like you, that uses Windows daily on a basis. Please note, I am not affiliated with Windows, nor Microsoft, so whatever I might say, may not represent Microsoft. So, here are two things we can do.

    1. Reset your PC. Once you've resetted your pc, and you are at the setup page, please press, "SHIFT + F10" on your keyboard, without the quotations, when you are at the setup page. Once you've pressed that, you will see something named with the lines of, "Command Prompt, or CMD." Once you in that program, type "Start ms-windows-store:" without the quotations. In that, you'll see something named Microsoft Store/Windows Store. From that, it might ask you to connect to your internet, and then in the search box type, "Switch out of S Mode" without the quotations. And click the thing that says Get/Switch out of S Mode. Once done, you will have to hit Get, to get out of S Mode. It might prompt you to sign in with a Microsoft Account, please sign in with your Microsoft account, if you don't have one, you can sign up for it. When done hit Get out of S Mode, then it might prompt you to restart your laptop/desktop, please restart it. Once done, are you are back in the setup, follow the steps, like you'll usually do, when you setup a computer. Once done setting it up, check if S Mode is still on, by going in Settings, and typing in Activation. It should say Windows 10 Home/Pro or Enterprise, not Windows 10 In S Mode. If this method doesn't work, try method two.
    2. If you've bought the laptop from a store, like Bestbuy etc, and the return window/support window is still open, check if you get get it fixed, by Geek Squad team. If you can't get it done by Geek Squad, or Best Buy, or you've bought the laptop from directly the Manfuacter, like DELL, HP, LENOVO, ACER, ASUS etc, and you still have warranty from them, you can call or text them from the support chat, and they'll usually send it to the repair center, to perform testing, on the OS, and they usually will fix it, if not sometimes they might give you a new Laptop. Not so fun fact, I sent my laptop to HP, to get it out of S Mode, and they did it. The Method one, I found the method myself, by doing some testing to get out of S Mode in the setup.

If that doesn't work, please contact me again via MS/Microsoft Windows Forums.

I did everything and finally called IT support. They fixed it, but it took a few tries reinstalling the operating system. It's certainly a glitch on their end.

I just bought a Windows 11 HP laptop from Best Buy. I can NOT get it out of S-mode no matter what I do. Should I take my laptop back to Best Buy to see if they can fix it? Or should I call Microsoft since it's the Microsoft store I am having issues with?
