Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"

I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Did they ever get you out of S mode?

I did the Reset/saving all settings.

They should be accountable for this

It is ridiculous. I saw someone wanting to sue MS.

The only thing I can do going forward, is to make sure we don't leave Best Buy with a future new laptop for my husband, until we make sure the laptop is not in S mode.

Great, totally agree. I’ve registered a complaint to government ministers, this feels like they are taking advantage of their position to force this upon people. Caused alot of frustration and calls to their support to remove it!

I am about to hire a lawyer and become the lead plaintiff in a class action lawsuit against Microsoft unless they let me download whatever the hell I want. I bought this computer specifically to update software on my radios, and now I can't do it. Not happy at all.

Hi Ray, I would be happy to assist you with this issue, is there any way I can contact you other than Microsoft Forums, any way to contact you quickly? As I had this problem many times, and It is a bit complex to fix this.

Please respond to me, if you need this issue still fixed.

    Thanks!

Good luck, the third person on day three finally resolved it for me but it was quite unsatisfactory that they do this and what they put us through
