Can't switch out of S mode: "Try that again"

I haven't owned a PC is over 15 years. Bought a Lenovo laptop just to run Minecraft and I am amazed, absolutely amazed that I can't get out of S mode.

I recently purchased a laptop that came with the S mode of Windows. On the first startup it automatically installed Windows 11 (so downgrading to 10 is not an option). After set up etc. I updated Microsoft Store and installed various Windows updates and tried to switch it out of S mode. Instead, for the past few hours and with each of the hundreds of attempts, I keep getting a window that says "Try that again. Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help" along with an error code that changes every time. I am burned out and all out of ideas, any assistance on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Mine is a Lenovo laptop with an Intel processor. I did call Lenovo first and they referred me to microsoft. The fix did work,but how crazy is this that it is even necessary to get tech help to start up a new computer?

Not manufacturers, it’s MS and only way to fix is call their support who will spend some time remotely on your laptop to remove their settings!!! It’s a joke that MS can do this and get away with it!

I have seen similar on a few posts recently. It looks like running a reinstall using Windows recovery is the way to go. Other users have confirmed the same.

I wonder if it is anything to do with the way manufacturers image the systems rather than using the installation routine.

Or it is affecting systems with an Intel or AMD processor. Unfortunately we don't get to find out all this sort of information when users are trying to find out how to fix their problem.
